About This Attraction

A dramatic temple ruin with tall stone pillars and remnants of intricately carved walls set high on a terrace. Built by King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century, it once housed a large Buddha statue (now mostly ruined). Its architectural grandeur gives a powerful sense of the scale and style of the ancient city’s sacred structures.
