About This Attraction

One of the largest ancient reservoirs (tanks) ever built in Sri Lanka, constructed under King Parakramabahu I to support extensive irrigation. Today it’s a scenic water body surrounded by countryside roadways and fields, offering relaxed views and great photo spots at sunrise or sunset. It shows the scale of engineering and agricultural management in the medieval Polonnaruwa Kingdom.
Ticket Price: Free public outdoor space (the archaeological city ticket is for ruins; Parakrama Samudra itself is free to visit)
