Meemure is located near the border between Kandy District and Matale District in the Knuckles Mountain Range. Having surrounded by a ring of mountains that belongs to the Knuckles mountain range, this village has been covered from the attention of most people in Sri Lanka. Surrounding mountains, endless water flows, waterfalls, paddy fields and the morning mist add essence to the beauty of Meemure.

The village has a population of approximately 400. The design of the village is one of the main uniqueness of Meemure. The villagers build eco-friendly homes using clay and dried grass which lasts for several decades. The village receives water, plentiful in the form of waterfalls that have their sources in the thick forests of the Knuckles.
